Pissouri Concerts

Are you thinking on travelling to Cyprus this summer? An ideal destination is Pissouri. Pissouri has a lot to offer to people of all ages. Pissouri is a hillside village and is located high above sea level, offering some spectacular views for those visiting. Pissouri Bay is a quiet beach resort with a mile-long stretch of sand surrounded by white cliffs, making it perfect for those who crave nothing more than total relaxation. Visitors staying in Pissouri village or Pissouri Bay can enjoy a variety of concepts, especially over the summer period. These concepts include dancing, live music and theatre. Usually these performances take place at various venues around the seaside town, as well as in the local amphitheater.
Pissouri local amphitheater is located at the heart of Pissouri village, just a short walk from local bars and tavernas this modern amphitheatre has perfect acoustics and amazing views accross Pissouri towards the sea, Akrotiri and Limassol. It is the perfect venue for outdoor summer events and has hosted shows as diverse as Abba and Opera plus many Cypriot evenings and dancing events. Being a relatively modern structure you are generally allowed to bring your own drinks to the show. Another place for local events is the Pissouri square. During summer traditional taverns organize the so called "Cyprus nights" in the Pissouri village square with dancing and music. This is a great way to mingle with the locals and discover Cyprus music and dance. These concerts include rock festivals, jazz and blues festivals, theaters (including ancient Greek tragedies) and of course local dances in the Pissouri square. People can pick up tickets from the entrance of the events and usually there isn't any dress code. Some examples of future events are
Theater: Sex, Chips and Ouzo: One of Scotland's funniest comedy companies will be playing in Pissouri amphitheater.
Youth Dancing Festival: This festival takes places in Pissouri square for the whole August and September.
Kourio ancient theater: Just minutes away of Pissouri village, Kourio theater holds a number of events all over the summer. Here you can enjoy an original Greek tragedy!
Families can stay at one of the Pissouri villas in Pissouri Bay or Pissouri village and enjoy the variety of summer events without the need to travel with a car. Just a few minutes away from the village of Pissouri by car, holiday makers can also head there to enjoy some fresh seafood at one of the local tavernas. |
